Baking the walls

I had a vision of cedar shingles

I baked batches for different times to get a nice variety of colors

It took a long time, but it's my favorite part of this whole piece

Icing on top

I do love making sugar cone trees!

The board gets painted to give the poured sugar 'seas' some depth

The most colors of icing I had ever used

a little bit of cardstock

The pattern is made from card stock and carefully organized

If it stands in card stock, it will stand in gingerbread (probably!)
